DFFL Week 2 Awards

—DFFL 21: Week 2 Awards—

Not a ton of standout material this week… and on the aggregate through two weeks, DFFL writ large is one big jumbled pack of average. That may not sound sexy, but when it comes to competitiveness, it’s a mark that we’re approaching parity… which is a goal I suppose (especially if we want people to stay in the league).

Need a new tire from that blowout?

- DNF (1) must’ve put some extra air in all their tires after last week realizing they were all sorely underinflated as they beat KED by 53.86 points. Dunno what to make of it, but after last week, this is one of the best ways to recover.

2021: TMW (1), DNF (1)

Historical: JWW 139.88

Need some oil to fix that squeaker?

- UGG (1) would’ve only beaten 3 teams this week and had the luxury of facing one that they were able to get by without properly lubricated joints… and thus their 2.27 point victory like TMW said is worth about as much as 3am run to the border for a 5 layer burrito. As with DNF’s role reversal, TMW score in the bottom 3 this week is a conundrum based on last week’s performance. Who is TMW?

2021: KED (1), UGG (1)

Historical: CAB and RAF (“the tie”)

Show him the money!

- DNF (1) with 221.3 gets the $50 this week… and interestingly KAK is the runner up in this category for two weeks straight… being consistent at 2ndbest isn’t a bad thing in this league.

2021: TMW (1), DNF (1)

Historical: UGG 239.35 (no, when this gets beaten this year because we added the TE spot, the new record will not get an asterisk)

When your best not only isn’t good enough… it just plain sucks.

- RAF (1) pulled off some trades this week, only to find themselves in a fairly familiar spot and with 102.42 points stakes a claim to the bottom dweller status again.

2021: DNF (1), RAF (1)

Historical: OIE 66.04 (MTT before MTT)

This ain’t horseshoes or hand grenades.

- MTT (1) with 144.58 points scored the most out of the losers… but still below top half overall this week, so not much to feel great about here. I promise, I’m not being overly pessimistic or anything… it’s just going to take some time for my brain to digest the recent DFFL holistic output and convert thoughts of mediocrity into something more exciting.

Better lucky?

- Honorable mention to PTS for winning with 142.42 points, but UGG (1) not only wins the squeaker, but they also had the lowest winning score this week with 141.72 points. I know what UGG is thinking. I wonder what I’ll think when I look at moves UGG made in the last week or two to see if/how they impacted this outcome.

Ford, Chevy, or Ram?

- UGG (1) for wheelin’ and dealin’ to bring in Davante Adams (and that Mitchell guy)(and for unloading Zeke’s contract) to get the aforementioned lucky squeaker win.

Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda.

- TMW (1)… but only because nobody else really was eligible. Not sure what TMW really coulda done differently, but I guess there’s always a way to make up less than a 3 point differential.
