21-06 Free Agent Auction

DFFL Owners, it’s almost time for one of the best days of the DFFL Season. The free agent auction (FAA). Hopefully you are tracking that the FAA will be at 2000 EST on Sunday Night (0900 Monday Morning in Japan). Below is a bunch of notes in no particular order to ensure that we are all on the same page. RAF this isn’t TLDR…important info is below!

1. Mock Auction. This is the first year that the FAA will be on Sleeper. Recommend that everyone do a mock draft so that they ensure their PC/Phone/Tablet etc…works and to ensure you know how to use the interface. I will be holding a league wide DFFL Mock Draft on Saturday at 2000 EST. All members are invited. I will also be testing an optional VTC (Video Tele-Conference for those non-military types) at the same time. See below for links to both.

2. Real Auction. You should be able to easily find the real FAA link on Sleeper, but if not, here it is below. I have also put the link to the Google Meet VTC for the real FAA below. Participating in the VTC is completely optional, but if you’d like to take be able to trash talk JWW every time he drafts a QB or TIU when he drafts a Bill, don’t miss it!

3. Taxi Draft. Immediately following the draft we will run a 2020 reverse order of standings snake draft to fill in any taxi slots as desired. To refresh your memory you can place any unsigned/unowned player on your taxi squad if you have an open slot. These players can later be signed to a $3 contract and are eligible for poaching at any time. All of these players will become FAA following the season. To be clear there is NO WAY to resign them next year and are not eligible as a franchise player. This is your only chance to put players on the taxi squad so don’t miss it. See Section K of the rules for full taxi squad details. This is the first year we are doing this as a draft, previous years were complicated free-for-alls, so I think this will be better.

a. This will be done in the What’s App Chat room, and I’ll keep the VTC up.

b. Draft Order will be: RAF, NUT, MTT, KED, KAK, PTS, TMW, UGG, DNF, JWW, TIU, CAB

4. No Default Rankings. The auction will not have default rankings, but you can sort by predicted points etc…again recommend a Mock Draft

5. New Rules. Below are a reminder on a couple of new rules

a. Tight Ends. Yep they’re a starting position now.

b. Return Yards. 10 of them will get you a point.

6. Post Draft. I need your new contracts by 2000 EST on Monday night. I’m not going to go over contract rules again here, but 1-4 years, first year must be your FAA bid etc…see Section E of the rules if you need to get a refresher. It’s important I get your contracts on time because overnight Tuesday is the first waiver auction

7. Waiver Auctions. All moves will be locked until Tuesday and then the Waiver Auctions will start overnight Tuesday. These run every night for players that have not yet played a game that week. You will bid with your leftover cap space following the FAA. Remember you have to stay under the cap all year.
