21-05 Resign Period

Ok, the day you’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived…the DFFL resigning period is officially open! The official 2021 player values can be downloaded from our website, under league data.
All moves must be complete by Aug 29th, 2000 East Coast Time. Email them to me and Brian. Obviously, we could have an advantage if we see your moves before we make our own, so Brian and myself will turn in our moves by 28 Aug. You can then turn in your moves on 29 Aug and maintain that advantage, if desired.
As a reminder, the Free Agent Auction (aka our yearly draft) is 05 September at 2000 East Coast Time. I’ll send out more details as the date gets closer.
As usual I will give the quick primer on what you need to do below, but hopefully you are getting the hang of this by now.
For each player do the following:
1) If there is no value in the 2021 contract column, then your only option is to franchise the player. You can only franchise one player per season. The value for that player will be 1.2x current salary or the player’s positional value, whichever is higher. Franchise player position values for 2021 are as follows:
a) QB - $42
b) RB - $90
c) WR - $62
d) TE - $42
e) K - $1
f) D/ST - $2
2) If the last year of a contract is 2021 (i.e. no value for 2022 and beyond), then your choices are as follows:
a) Do nothing. This player will play this season at current contract value and WILL become a free agent next year (you will have the option to franchise).
b) Contract Extension. Give a contract extension as per league rules.
c) Cut. You can cut a player and receive some salary cap relief as per league rules.
3) If you have a player under contract through 2022 or beyond:
a) Do nothing. This player will play this season at current contract value.
b) Contract Extension. Give a contract extension as per league rules.
c) Cut. You can cut a player and receive some salary cap relief as per league rules.
Final Notes:
· Leftover cap space will be used to bid on players at the free agent auction and for in season waiver auctions
· Top players will cost a lot more in auction then what the value sheet is because of scarcity
· I know there will be lots of questions so feel free to contact me as much as you need to, as this is probably the most important period for your franchise.
